j. Archer O'Reilly III Appreciation Luncheon

&

Deborah Sampson Performance

On Saturday, October 14th, 2017 the Governors of the Shirley-Eustis House Association hosted an intimate appreciation luncheon to honor the innumerable contributions of J. Archer O’Reilly III to the Shirley-Eustis House Association, most notably his six years of service as President. We were lucky to have many past and present governors and special guests in attendance to honor him. The luncheon held inside our beautiful Carriage House naturally included Archer’s legendary apple sauce made from our own Roxbury Russets. Following the luncheon, professional actress Judith Kalaora, founder of History At Play, put on a moving performance of Deborah Sampson, a fearless woman who bound her breasts, tied back her hair, and enlisted in the 4th Massachusetts Regiment of the Continental Army to fight for American independence. The Society of the Cincinnati generously sponsored this thrilling theatrical performance for our members as well as the public. Thank you members and friends of the SEHA who took pictures of Saturday’s events for the album: Magdalena Taber, Steven Pendery, and Jennifer Roesch. Also thank you to all those who helped plan and set up the event- your dedication to our organization is what makes events like these successful.
